luck!
I grow up in a very good family. I have my parents who
always motivate me to be better, who always listen to my story, who always
fufill my needs. I am so grateful. I also have my siblings who are lovely.
Proverb says a succesful man grows in a good family. Succesful man always has
good relationship between him and his family. So I try to keep my relationship
good and okay. I can’t imagine how my life would be without them all.
Alhamdulillah J
Some people outside there are not as lucky as me. I have a
friend whose her mother had passed away. I have another friend whose his family
was broken. I could not imagine if I were them. Since that, I always try to
thank God everyday because of His Blessings.
After I tell you about my family, then now I will tell you
about my life. I am now studying at Electrical Engineering UGM. Some people
asked me why I would not have studied medicine. My parents are doctor, but why
their son is not a doctor as well. Then I told them that everyone has their own
goals. Fortunately, my parents let me to decide where I would study. I chose
electrical engineering. My parents agreed with it.
So, what is my goals?
Why electrical engineering? Why don’t I choose medicine?
I have a hobby. My hobby is travelling by train or bus. I
love train and bus stuffs. So then I choose to study electrical engineering because
someday I want to work at commuter train, PT KCJ, Jakarta. I want to dedicate
my life for Indonesia, especially in transportation field.
I started to study electrical engineering in 2011. On the
first year, my life got so heavy. I never imagined that electrical engineering
could be this hard. I found mathematics and physics everyday and it freaked me
out. I was so hopeless. My GPA was only 2,6. It was very very bad. I shared
this hard days to my friends. So I considered to join SNMPTN 2012 (college entrance
test). I chose medicine. However I was not admitted. Then I decided to stay in
electrical engineering.
Whatever it was, on the second year, I started again to
study in electrical engineering harder. Still, the results was not satisfying.
Maybe it was because I joined an organization that took my time much. The
organization is called Balairungklass, a non profit organization formed by UGM
students from Klaten. We were holding an event called Blast Out 2013 on March, 2013. That become one of my most important part of
my life.
Blast Out 2013
Blast Out 2013 is an event
dedicated to high school students in Klaten, Indonesia, held by Balairungklass,
a community service formed by Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) students from
Klaten. The event is about National Exam preparation.
Blast Out 2013 is the short term for
"Balairungklass Try Out 2013". It had a meaning that if we want to
succeed, we should blast our spirit out.
Firstly, we made a committee of Blast out 2013
in November 2012 and the event was planned to be held in March 2013. So the
commitee had only 5 months to work. I was given a mandate as the head of the
committee. Then, we started to work. I divided the committee into some
divisions.
We set some targets. We had to get at least 1000
participants to join the event. Besides, we had to get at least 2 million
rupiah as profit. Those were not easy. So we needed a kind of strategy to reach
the target. We firstly planned the budget and the event concept. The event
concept should be great and attractive to high school students. Besides, we
could not waste too much money. So what we were doing was to make a very
amazing event with less budget.
We were listing every details about the event.
We had to decide where and what time the event would be held. To decide it, we
surveyed some possible places which could be taken to hold the event. We also
considered scool academic calendar. Finally, we had made the decision. The
event would be held at RSPD building on March 17, 2013.
After that, we made a marketing strategy to
attract students in Klaten to join Blast Out 2013. The strategy was, we came to
some senior high schools in Klaten and introduced Universitas Gadjah Mada(UGM)
to them. We told them the fact that UGM is one of the best university in
Indonesia. So we gave them some tips to study at UGM. One of the tips is that
they had to study harder and join National Exam preparation like Blast Out
2013. They were attracted, so they registered themselves to join the event and
finally the event participants had reached 1000 only in 3 months. Wow, it was
unexpected before.
To lighten the budget, we were
looking for some sponsorships. This part was also hard for us. We only had
little experience about looking for sponsorship. However, we kept on trying.
Many companies we asked about sponsorship rejected us. But we did not stop.
Finally, we had got some small sponsorship to lighten the budget.
The event preparation was still
running. We checked every detail about the event like the capability host/MC,
readiness of sound system, parking area, electricity power, everything.
Finally, the show time. Blast Out
2013 had just started and ran as we planned. The end of Blast Out 2013, we
asked for testimonials from the participants. They were all satisfied !
Blast Out 2013 had become my
important experience. Many challenges we had faced. Some important things I got
was that detail is important and maximum service is a must.
My College Life
At electrical engineering UGM, I
have my best friends : Samudra, Amang, Deppi, Singgih. When I face difficulties
in studying electrical engineering, I still have them to share my minds. They
are good listeners. As time goes by, my college life gets better. My GPA has
been increased. Alhamdulillah. Now I am starting to do my thesis. I hope I can
graduate soon.
Self-Development
I realize that self-development should be continuous. Recently, I
made a list of goals that I should achieve. Here they are :
1.
Weight loss from 80 kg to 70 kg
I realize that I am fat. I think that having a
healthy body is so very important. Having a healthy body means having a healthy
mind and healthy life. It can make your life better. Having healthy body can
increase your self-confidence. Self-confidence is very important too. Being
confidence can influence other people. The ability to influence other
person/people is one of leadership skills. To achieve the target, I control my
eating. I also go jogging 3 times in a week.
2.
Reaching IELTS score as 6,5
Someday I want to study abroad by scholarship.
There is a term that to apply scholarship, applicant should have IELTS score
minimum 6,5. To reach the goal, I take an IELTS course at CILACS UII.
3.
Studying abroad
After I graduate from Electrical Engineering
UGM, I want to take master degree by scholarship. I want to study abroad
because I want to have an international experience.
4.
Graduated in February 2016
Maybe it is little bit late. But that is okay.
I want to graduate with good marks on my graduation certificate. I want to
continue my life.
5.
Having a better personalities
I am known as an emotional person. I have done
so many mistakes that is due to my emotion. It has ruined my life. Now I am
trying to control my self better than before. Dealing with this goal, I have
made a book called “a happy note”. When I am in my leasure time, I write every
good things that happens to my life. So far, it can make my emotion better and
getting more positive.
6.
Being involved in community service
To be cared, we have to care others. Best
human is those who helps others. I hope that my life can give a good impact to
others.
My Future
Plans
I have a plan for my
future. After I graduate, I plan to study abroad by scholarship. I want to go
to Japan, Singapore, and Europe. I hope I can get there soon.
After I study abroad, I want to get a job. I want to work at PT
KCJ, a commuter train operator in Jabodetabek. I want to dedicate my life to
Indonesia. Maybe, few years later I will resign and build a business.
I want to build a transportation service using bus. I am so
inspired by bus Sumber Kencono. That is a economy class bus but has a very
excellent service such as : kind crews, bus full Air Conditioner, having good
punctuality, cheap fare, etc. That makes passangers so satisfied. Since that,
so many people prefer going to work by bus Sumber Kencono than motorcycle/car.
In Indonesia, there are some important issues to be solved. One of
them is transportation issue. We do know that most people in Indonesia prefer
private transportation than public transportation. It may cause so many
congestion on road. The congestion has slowed down the national economic growth
due to increasing logistic cost. To solve the problem, we have to provide a
good mass transportation so that people will move to public transportation. As
seen from bus Sumber Kencono, the bus has become the favorite transportation in
corridor Surabaya-Jogja. So, someday I will build a transportation service like
Sumber Kencono but in other corridor, Solo-Purwokerto. By building this
service, it can help Indonesia to prevent congestion. Besides, this can be my
real contribution to Indonesia.
“a
developed country is not a place where the poor have cars. It is where the rich
use public transport” (Enrique Penalosa, the Mayor of Bogota, Colombia)
I hope that someday Indonesian will prefer using public
transportation than private transportation. We can do it! J
“Pekerjaan
yang paling menyenangkan di dunia adalah hobi yang dibayar” (Ridwan Kamil, Mayor of Bandung)
I love transportation. I love bus. I love train. I love the people
who use train and bus because they care our country, Indonesia. Someday I will
work at transportation service. That will be fun, because my hobby will be
paid. Isn’t it fun? J
Closing
Statement...
From all above, my most important life goal is to have a happy
life. It is pointless when you have much money but you don’t happy with your
life. To be a happy person, we have to always be grateful, kind to others, and
give impact to others. Do the best, and
be happy J
